History


2004: Establishment of Mitsui Power Infrastructure Development Co., Ltd. (MPID) 

  • In April 2004, Mitsui & Co., Ltd., together with International Power (UK), jointly acquired the IPP business of Edison Mission Energy (nine power plants with a total generating capacity of 6.1 GW) in order to strengthen and expand its IPP portfolio. The business was subsequently launched as IPM Eagle.
  • MPID was established as a specialized organization for the management of power generation businesses.


2011: Opening of the Singapore Branch

  • To support the expansion of Mitsui & Co., Ltd.’s IPM business, newly awarded IPP projects in Canada, Mexico, and Jordan, and operations of the Paiton Project, MPID gradually expanded its technical organization. In August 2011, the Singapore Branch was established and began providing finance-related support services.


2012–: Transition from Power Asset Management to Broader Infrastructure Support

  • In April 2012, following an organizational restructuring at Mitsui & Co., Ltd., responsibility for managing the IPP business was transferred to MPID.
  • Thereafter, in line with the expansion of Mitsui & Co., Ltd.’s infrastructure business portfolio, MPID continued to provide specialized technical and financial support not only for power projects but also for infrastructure development and operations across a broad range of sectors.


2026: Launch of Mitsui & Co. Engineering Partners, Ltd.

  • The company adopted a new strategy to further specialize in technical support related to EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) and O&M (Operation and Maintenance). At the same time, it expanded its support scope beyond Mitsui & Co., Ltd.’s infrastructure business to support all business domains. Reflecting this strategic transformation, the company changed its name to Mitsui & Co. Engineering Partners, Ltd.
