Mitsui & Co. established Forefront Power, a wholly owned subsidiary, in California—the hub of clean energy in the United States. In 2017, the company acquired the Commercial & Industrial division of SunEdison, which develops and operates distributed solar power generation projects, thereby advancing new initiatives at the forefront of the renewable energy business.
From 2019 to 2024, Mitsui dispatched a Chief Finance Officer who, together with other secondees from Mitsui, contributed to the stabilization and expansion of the business.
